Hilary Daley, FNP, Chair of the Nursing Division at GateWay Community College, explains, “Students could start with us in their nurse assisting program and stay with us all the way through getting their master’s.”

Many students enter the program seeking stability, advancement, and a better future for themselves and their families. “In 10 months, they could be making $30 an hour. That’s life-changing for them,” she says. Those outcomes highlight the broader value of nursing education. Beyond career advancement, it can provide financial security, confidence, and opportunities that positively affect entire families and communities.

Hilary also highlights the legacy of a former faculty member who believed so strongly in the program’s impact that he left a portion of his estate to support future nursing students. Today, GateWay Community College serves approximately 800 students across its nursing-related programs and continues to expand learning opportunities through stronger clinical partnerships, advanced learning technologies, and student-focused initiatives.
