Fujitsu’s AI Helps Hospitals Earn More and Work Smarter. Now Recognized by the World Economic Forum

A Japan-based hospital management project delivers real results, including higher revenue, smoother patient flow, and reduced administrative hours.

Tokyo, Japan, 21 January 2026 – Fujitsu has announced a major global recognition for its healthcare innovation. The company’s AI-powered hospital management project, created in partnership with Social Medical Corporation Genshukai in Iki City, Nagasaki Prefecture, has been selected as one of the advanced solutions in the MINDS program hosted by the AI Global Alliance of the World Economic Forum.

The MINDS program highlights AI initiatives that create measurable positive impact in society. Fujitsu’s selection is a strong achievement, especially since only 15 advanced solutions were chosen from hundreds of global applications. This is also Fujitsu’s second consecutive selection, following another recognition in July 2025, showing the company’s growing influence in the healthcare AI space.

Turning hospital challenges into smarter management

Hospitals everywhere face a common challenge: they must provide quality care while dealing with staff shortages, rising costs, and complicated administrative processes. In Japan, this situation is even more urgent, with nearly 70% of hospitals operating at a financial deficit. Many healthcare facilities struggle to stay sustainable while continuing to serve their communities.

To address this problem, Fujitsu worked with Genshukai to create a smart hospital management solution using Fujitsu Data Intelligence PaaS. This platform uses data and AI to support better decisions and smoother operations. The solution is offered through Fujitsu’s Uvance business model, which focuses on solving real-world social and business challenges.

Real impact at Mitsutake Hospital

This new AI-based management solution is already proving its value at Genshukai’s Mitsutake Hospital. It supports hospital teams in managing facility standards, improving bed usage, and streamlining patient processes from admission to discharge.

In simple terms, it helps hospitals run more smoothly by making sure resources are used efficiently, patients move through the system faster, and staff spend less time on paperwork.

Why this project stood out globally

Fujitsu received special appreciation for three key reasons:

  1. AI for long-term hospital sustainability

This project shows how AI can become part of a hospital’s everyday working system, not just a temporary fix. It helps hospitals plan better, reduce errors, and build stable management practices that last.

  1. Scalable for hospitals of all sizes

One of the biggest strengths of the solution is its flexibility. Hospitals often have different formats of data, including unstructured information that doesn’t follow a standard system. Fujitsu’s platform can work with this type of data and can be used in both small and large hospitals across Japan, helping strengthen healthcare resilience.

  1. Clear business results and time savings

The impact at Mitsutake Hospital is measurable. The hospital reported an approximate 10% increase in annual revenue and a reduction of around 400 administrative working hours per month. This means staff can focus more on patient care instead of repetitive manual work.

A step forward for future-ready healthcare

Fujitsu says it will continue building more success stories through Decision Intelligence, powered by data and AI, under its Uvance model. The goal is not only to support business growth but also to solve bigger social challenges by making healthcare systems more efficient, sustainable, and reliable.

This recognition from the World Economic Forum’s AI Global Alliance is a sign that AI-driven healthcare transformation is not just an idea anymore; it is already happening, and it is delivering results where they matter most.
