Realizing a Reset in the Veterinary Space to Help it Run on More Modernized Basis

Covetrus®, the first tech-enabled veterinary practice improvement company, has officially announced an updated version of its Covetrus Platform™, which happens to be a comprehensive and connected assortment of solutions designed to serve modern veterinary practices.

According to certain reports, the now updated Covetrus platform will work alongside the ever-growing and powerful VetSuite network to realize the full potential of veterinary clinics across the U.S.

To understand the significance of such a development, though, we must take into account how veterinary practices across the board currently have to deal with numerous challenges, including rising retail competition, overall costs going up, and the evolving expectations of pet parents.

In response, Covetrus would emerge as the first player to offer a fully integrated, advanced technology platform. Complementing that would be the presence of VetSuite’s presence.

You see, VetSuite, on its part, is the first and probably the largest practice improvement network, capable of addressing the competitive pressures for independent veterinary practices. We get to say so because members can expect ultimate convenience of integrated software and suppliers, something which will bring optimal pricing and the ability to effectively compete in the market.

“Covetrus puts the veterinarian at the heart of everything that we do,” said Ben Wolin, President and CEO of Covetrus. “As the market dynamics continue to change, managing a veterinary practice is harder than ever. As the first tech-enabled practice improvement company, Covetrus is dedicated to providing innovative solutions that directly solve for the competitive pressures veterinarians face today. Through the Covetrus Platform and the VetSuite network, we are empowering veterinarians to improve their clinical and financial outcomes – ultimately giving them more time for the thing that matters most – caring for pets.”

Talk about the updated Covetrus Platform on a slightly deeper level, it arrives bearing the knowhow to scale up every touchpoint between a veterinarian and a pet parent, from pre-visit to post-appointment, to for a seamless connected care experience.

By doing so, it will, for starters, improve upon productivity at scale. From an actionable standpoint, the solution here will streamline workflows to save practices time and deliver superior care. As it does that, the whole operation will be supported by Covetrus Pulse™, a cloud-based system which is well-equipped to integrate prescriptions, payments, and much more.

All in all, such a mechanism should be able to provide features like built-in payment processing, new AI capabilities, and bidirectional integration, thanks to a partnership with Zoetis Diagnostics.

Next up, there is the promise to increase profit margins. This includes cutting down on cost savings around those much-needed medications, supplies, equipment, and prescriptions. Practices leverage Covetrus platform’s can actually save up to $14,000 on an annual basis.

The solution in question, like we briefly touched upon, will bring forth an enhanced brand of competitiveness. The underlying idea is to increase practice revenue both in-person and online through competitive prescription and home delivery options.

Not just that, Covetrus will also make it possible for users to offer home delivery and pet-friendly medications. This the platform will achieve on the back of its collaboration with ProScripts, thus providing digital prescriptions, using direct links, for patients to easily order online and serve a contingent of 70% pet owners who now buy pet supplies online.

Alongside that, the platform has even partnered with Epicur to allow for more customized medications, and therefore, meet the needs of 40% pet owners who are reportedly struggling with administration of pet prescription care at home

Covetrus’ platform also delivers at your disposal the potential for greater client loyalty. The solution will leverage personalized communication and convenient service to deliver on this promise. At launch, the Covetrus Platform is going to provide a suite of client engagement tools, including automated communications and reminders, a self-service portal, as well as personalized care plans, all integrated with Covetrus Pulse.

“As a Covetrus customer and a veterinarian looking to increase productivity, it was important to me and my team that we have an integrated, cloud-based solution, allowing us to provide the highest quality care, while more effectively managing patient cases,” said Dr. Georgianne Arndt Ludwig, Lombard Veterinary Hospital.
